Trendy Tuesdays

A new addition to my blog, Trendy Tuesdays, will introduce a new trend either this week, this month, or this season. It can range from music to beauty to fashion. I figured since this is a beauty blog, the perfect way to start this off would be a fashion trend.

Now, one slithering sweet trend this season has been snakeskin. I bought a pair of faux snakeskin flats that I know are going to look great this fall with my school uniform. I even worked up the courage to buy myself a small bag that has subtle snakeskin woven throughout. 

Personally, I'm not a fan of snakes. I have them living in my own backyard, yet the scariest day I'll ever remember is when one sneaky snake snuck into my basement. However, that being said, I am a huge animal activist and vegetarian; I don't like the harming of any animals for any matter. Overall, that's what I really love about this trend. Not only do I feel more confident walking around with the skin of one of the slickest animals on the earth, most of the python prints haven't hurt the animal! Snakes naturally shed their skin, providing a great resource to base shoes, bags, belts, and tops off of. 

The pedicure, shown above, was featured in the June issue of Vogue and is ripped out of my magazine, tapped to my wall. I thought that not only was the idea amazing, but seriously, it looks completely gorgeous. Of course, I don't have $300 to throw on a pedicure, but I can definitely make do and keep the python trend affordable with the $34 bag I bought from Coach and $18 flats from Old Navy. This trend doesn't seem to be fading as the snakeskin continues to be incorporated in new ways. I hope this post has inspired you to look for some python products! A Wishlist

Hey, everyone! Today I spent some time on Nordstrom making a wishlist of a few fall items coming to stores and thought I would share. Now, I love the fall and back to school shopping - just not in love with going back to school. I'm not dwelling on that right now, though, and trying to soak up the rest of the weather! Anyways, onto the list...

1. Smashbox 'Limitless' Dual Ended Lip Stain and Color Seal Bond. I've yet to try a lip stain, because all I've found is drugstore brands, and haven't found a color I love. However, the colors that are pictured seem nice, so I'm eager to try!

2. Marc Jacobs 'Oh, Lola!' Perfume. Just look at the packaging. Just look. That alone had me sold, and then when a magazine came in the mail the other day, it had a swatch of this perfume and it smelled just amazing! This is definitely at the top of my list to buy!

3. Burberry 'Lip Mist' Natural Sheer Color. No 03, Brown Sugar, looks gorgeous, and perfect for me! I've yet to own any Burberry make up, so I'm thinking this should be the first!

4. Dior Vernis 'Fall 2011' Nail Lacquer. Once again, I've never tried any Dior nail polish, but just look at this color! It reminds me more of a summer color, but I love to wear pink on my nails anytime as I'm so pale, red clashes with my skin tone!

5. Laura Mercier Corner Faux Eyelashes. These look amazing! Of course, as most people, I love the look of big and built-up lashes, and having lashes just on the side seems to give a more natural look without being as annoying to apply as single lashes are!

Nails of the Day

My nails today are inspired by ThisFashionIsMine's guest blog post on FleurDeForce. The tutorial was amazing, and I can't wait to try it out as soon as I get my hands on a yellow polish that will cooperate with me! For now, I did my own spin on the ombre nail tutorial.  Here's my take on the trend...

The colors I used were (left to right) Funky Fingers Shatter polish in Fuchsia Scales,

Short Story by OPI, Strawberry Margarita by OPI, Italian Love Affair by OPI, and

Start to Finish top&base coat by OPI.

First, I applied the sheer topcoat.

Next, I applied two coats of Italian Love Affair, the lightest pink.

Then, I sponged on Shorts Story, a brighter pink, and I believe it 

was in OPI's neon collection last summer.

Finally, I sponge-applied Strawberry Margarita to the tips of my nails, an

almost coral color compared to the other two pinks. Apply a topcoat

and the colors will blend together and smooth out. Clean up around 

the edges, as polish can be all over the place after using the sponge.

Finally, apply the crackle! This was taken the next morning, in better light. You can

see the fading effect on the nails, and I do like the purple

crackle with the pink colors underneath. I once again applied topcoat over the crackle,

for shine. 

This nail look definitely took some time, so I'd only do it once again if I have

at least 45min to an hour as you need to let each coat of polish

dry before sponging on the new color, etc.

The main difference between my interpretation of the look, is I used similar colors to create a fading effect, whereas ThisFashionIsMine's look has two contrasting colors. I hope you enjoy and try out this look!

PS-sorry about the quality of the pictures. I broke my camera last month at a concert, and have yet to just give up and go buy a new camera! 

My Very First Post...

I've been a bit nervous trying to decide what I should do with my first blog post, but I figured it'd be proper to just introduce myself to everyone, if anyone, that stumbles upon this little blog of mine. My name is Cassidy, and I'm 16 years old, living in the US. I go to high school and am only 2 years away from college, which scares me a little. Ever since I was little, I've loved fashion, makeup, travel, arts, and decided that I want to make a blog dedicated to that. Whether or not anyone decides to follow me or if anyone even sees my blog at all isn't a huge deal to me, I just want this blog to be something I'm proud of. I can't wait to see where this takes me, so I'm off to come up with some fresh ideas for posts...
